MOV : അവൻ ശൌലിനോടു സംസാരിച്ചു തീർന്നപ്പോൾ യോനാഥാന്റെ മനസ്സു ദാവീദിന്റെ മനസ്സോടു പറ്റിച്ചേർന്നു; യോനാഥാൻ അവനെ സ്വന്തപ്രാണനെപ്പോലെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു.
KJV : And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.
YLT : And it cometh to pass, when he finisheth to speak unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan hath been bound to the soul of David, and Jonathan loveth him as his own soul.

ERVEN : Saul decided to take David with him. He would not let David go back home to his father. After David finished talking with Saul, Jonathan developed a strong friendship with David.

MOV : ശൌൽ അയക്കുന്നേടത്തൊക്കെയും ദാവീദ് പോയി കാര്യാദികളെ വിവേകത്തോടെ നടത്തും; അതുകൊണ്ടു ശൌൽ അവനെ പടജ്ജനത്തിന്നു മേധാവി ആക്കി; ഇതു സർവ്വജനത്തിന്നും ശൌലിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർക്കും ബോധിച്ചു.
KJV : And David went out whithersoever Saul sent him, [and] behaved himself wisely: and Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul’s servants.
YLT : And David goeth out whithersoever Saul doth send him; he acted wisely, and Saul setteth him over the men of war, and it is good in the eyes of all the people, and also in the eyes of the servants of Saul.
RV : And David went out whithersoever Saul sent him, {cf15i and} behaved himself wisely: and Saul set him over the men of war, and it was good in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul-s servants.

ERVEN : David went to fight wherever Saul sent him. He was very successful, so Saul put him in charge of the soldiers. This pleased everyone, even Saul's officers.

MOV : ദാവീദ് ഫെലിസ്ത്യനെ സംഹരിച്ചശേഷം അവർ മടങ്ങിവരുമ്പോൾ യിസ്രായേല്യപട്ടണങ്ങളിൽനിന്നൊക്കെയും സ്ത്രീകൾ പാടിയും നൃത്തംചെയ്തുംകൊണ്ടു തപ്പും തംബുരുവുമായി സന്തോഷത്തോടെ ശൌൽരാജാവിനെ എതിരേറ്റുചെന്നു.
KJV : And it came to pass as they came, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with tabrets, with joy, and with instruments of musick.
YLT : And it cometh to pass, in their coming in, in David`s returning from smiting the Philistine, that the women come out from all the cities of Israel to sing -- also the dancers -- to meet Saul the king, with tabrets, with joy, and with three-stringed instruments;

ESV : As they were coming home, when David returned from striking down the Philistine, the women came out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul, with tambourines, with songs of joy, and with musical instruments.
ERVEN : David would go out to fight against the Philistines. On the way home after the battles, women in every town in Israel would come out to meet him. They sang and danced for joy as they played their tambourines and lyres. They did this right in front of Saul!

MOV : സ്ത്രീകൾ വാദ്യഘോഷത്തോടെ ഗാനപ്രതിഗാനമായി: ശൌൽ ആയിരത്തെ കൊന്നു ദാവീദോ പതിനായിരത്തെ എന്നു പാടി.
KJV : And the women answered [one another] as they played, and said, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands.
YLT : and the women answer -- those playing, and say, `Saul hath smitten among his thousands, And David among his myriads.`
RV : And the women sang one to another in their play, and said, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands.
RSV : And the women sang to one another as they made merry, "Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands."

ERVEN : The women sang, "Saul has killed his thousands, but David has killed tens of thousands."

MOV : അപ്പോൾ ശൌൽ ഏറ്റവും കോപിച്ചു; ഈ വാക്കു അവന്നു അനിഷ്ടമായി: അവർ ദാവീദിന്നു പതിനായിരം കൊടുത്തു എനിക്കു ആയിരം മാത്രമേ തന്നുള്ളു; ഇനി രാജത്വമല്ലാതെ അവന്നു കിട്ടുവാൻ എന്തുള്ളു എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.
KJV : And Saul was very wroth, and the saying displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed unto David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed [but] thousands: and [what] can he have more but the kingdom?
YLT : And it is displeasing to Saul exceedingly, and this thing is evil in his eyes, and he saith, `They have given to David myriads, and to me they have given the thousands, and more to him [is] only the kingdom;`
RV : And Saul was very wroth, and this saying displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed unto David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands: and what can he have more but the kingdom?
RSV : And Saul was very angry, and this saying displeased him; he said, "They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed thousands; and what more can he have but the kingdom?"

ESV : And Saul was very angry, and this saying displeased him. He said, "They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed thousands, and what more can he have but the kingdom?"
ERVEN : This song upset Saul and he became very angry. Saul thought, "The women give David credit for killing tens of thousands of the enemy, and they give me credit for only thousands. A little more of this and they will give him the kingdom itself! "

MOV : പിറ്റെന്നാൾ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പക്കൽ നിന്നുള്ള ദുരാത്മാവു ശൌലിന്മേൽ വന്നു; അവൻ അരമനക്കകത്തു ഉറഞ്ഞുപറഞ്ഞു; ദാവീദോ പതിവുപോലെ കിന്നരം വായിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു; ശൌലിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഒരു കുന്തം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
KJV : And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and [there was] a javelin in Saul’s hand.
YLT : And it cometh to pass, on the morrow, that the spirit of sadness [from] God prospereth over Saul, and he prophesieth in the midst of the house, and David is playing with his hand, as day by day, and the javelin [is] in the hand of Saul,
RV : And it came to pass on the morrow, that an evil spirit from God came mightily upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as he did day by day: and Saul had his spear in his hand.
RSV : And on the morrow an evil spirit from God rushed upon Saul, and he raved within his house, while David was playing the lyre, as he did day by day. Saul had his spear in his hand;

ESV : The next day a harmful spirit from God rushed upon Saul, and he raved within his house while David was playing the lyre, as he did day by day. Saul had his spear in his hand.
ERVEN : The next day, an evil spirit from God took control of Saul and he went wild in his house. David played the harp to calm him as he usually did,

MOV : ദാവീദിനെ ചുവരോടുചേർത്തു കുത്തുവാൻ വിചാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു ശൌൽ കുന്തം ചാടി; എന്നാൽ ദാവീദ് രണ്ടു പ്രാവശ്യം അവന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു മാറിക്കളഞ്ഞു.
KJV : And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall [with it.] And David avoided out of his presence twice.
YLT : and Saul casteth the javelin, and saith, `I smite through David, even through the wall;` and David turneth round out of his presence twice.

KJV : And Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with him, and was departed from Saul.
YLT : And Saul is afraid of the presence of David, for Jehovah hath been with him, and from Saul He hath turned aside;

KJV : And Saul said to David, Behold my elder daughter Merab, her will I give thee to wife: only be thou valiant for me, and fight the LORD’S battles. For Saul said, Let not mine hand be upon him, but let the hand of the Philistines be upon him.
YLT : And Saul saith unto David, `Lo, my elder daughter Merab -- her I give to thee for a wife; only, be to me for a son of valour, and fight the battles of Jehovah;` and Saul said, `Let not my hand be on him, but let the hand of the Philistines be upon him.`

ESV : Then Saul said to David, "Here is my elder daughter Merab. I will give her to you for a wife. Only be valiant for me and fight the LORD's battles." For Saul thought, "Let not my hand be against him, but let the hand of the Philistines be against him."
ERVEN : One day, Saul said to David, "Here is my oldest daughter, Merab. I will let you marry her. Then you will be like a son to me and you will be a real soldier. Then you will go and fight the Lord's battles." Saul was really thinking, "Now I won't have to kill David. I will let the Philistines kill him for me."

MOV : ദാവീദ്, ശൌലിനോടു: രാജാവിന്റെ മരുമകനായിരിപ്പാൻ ഞാൻ ആർ? യിസ്രായേലിൽ എന്റെ അസ്മാദികളും എന്റെ പിതൃഭവനവും എന്തുള്ളു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
KJV : And David said unto Saul, Who [am] I? and what [is] my life, [or] my father’s family in Israel, that I should be son in law to the king?
YLT : And David saith unto Saul, `Who [am] I? and what my life -- the family of my father in Israel -- that I am son-in-law to the king?`
RV : And David said unto Saul, Who am I, and what is my life, {cf15i or} my father-s family in Israel, that I should be son in law to the king?
RSV : And David said to Saul, "Who am I, and who are my kinsfolk, my father's family in Israel, that I should be son-in-law to the king?"
ASV : And David said unto Saul, Who am I, and what is my life, or my fathers family in Israel, that I should be son-in-law to the king?
ESV : And David said to Saul, "Who am I, and who are my relatives, my father's clan in Israel, that I should be son-in-law to the king?"
ERVEN : But David said, "I am not an important man from an important family. I can't marry the king's daughter."

MOV : ശൌലിന്റെ മകളായ മേരബിനെ ദാവീദിന്നു കൊടുക്കേണ്ടിയിരുന്ന സമയത്തു അവളെ മെഹോലാത്യനായ അദ്രിയേലിന്നു ഭാര്യയായി കൊടുത്തു.
KJV : But it came to pass at the time when Merab Saul’s daughter should have been given to David, that she was given unto Adriel the Meholathite to wife.
YLT : And it cometh to pass, at the time of the giving of Merab daughter of Saul to David, that she hath been given to Adriel the Meholathite for a wife.

MOV : ശൌലിന്റെ മകളായ മീഖളോ ദാവീദിനെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു. അതു ശൌലിന്നു അറിവു കിട്ടി; കാര്യം അവന്നു ഇഷ്ടമായി.
KJV : And Michal Saul’s daughter loved David: and they told Saul, and the thing pleased him.
YLT : And Michal daughter of Saul loveth David, and they declare to Saul, and the thing is right in his eyes,

MOV : അവൾ അവന്നു ഒരു കണിയായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ കൈ അവന്റെമേൽ വീഴേണ്ടതിന്നും ഞാൻ അവളെ അവന്നു കൊടുക്കും എന്നു ശൌൽ വിചാരിച്ചു ദാവീദിനോടു: നീ ഈ രണ്ടാം പ്രാവശ്യം എനിക്കു മരുമകനായി തീരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
KJV : And Saul said, I will give him her, that she may be a snare to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him. Wherefore Saul said to David, Thou shalt this day be my son in law in [the one of] the twain.
YLT : and Saul saith, `I give her to him, and she is to him for a snare, and the hand of the Philistines is on him;` and Saul saith unto David, `By the second -- thou dost become my son-in-law to-day.`
RV : And Saul said, I will give him her, that she may be a snare to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him. Wherefore Saul said to David, Thou shalt this day be my son in law a second time.
RSV : Saul thought, "Let me give her to him, that she may be a snare for him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him." Therefore Saul said to David a second time, "You shall now be my son-in-law."
ASV : And Saul said, I will give him her, that she may be a snare to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him. Wherefore Saul said to David, Thou shalt this day be my son-in-law a second time.
ESV : Saul thought, "Let me give her to him, that she may be a snare for him and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him." Therefore Saul said to David a second time, "You shall now be my son-in-law."
ERVEN : He thought, "I will use Michal to trap David. I will let Michal marry David, and then I will let the Philistines kill him." So Saul said to David a second time, "You can marry my daughter today."
